Aggregation Function

The connections can utilize different technologies, such as Ethernet, 802.11, FDDI, and ATM. In many cases, it is desirable for a third party to monitor the network traffic between two points in the network, point A and point B. If the network between points A and B consists of a physical cable, a network TAP may be the best way to accomplish this monitoring. The network TAP has at least three ports -- an A port, a B port, and a monitor port. To place a TAP between points A and B, the network cable between point A and point B is replaced with a pair of cables, one going to the TAP's A port, one going to the TAP's B port. The TAP passes through all traffic between A and B, so A and B still think they are connected to each other, but the TAP also copies the traffic between A and B to its monitor port, enabling a third party to listen.

Want to monitor the traffic of an optical Gigabit Ethernet link with your existing monitoring equipment, which features only a 1000B-T electrical input? The 1GE Aggregation TAP is the right answer for this challenge. With its fully passive connection to the network it doesn´t influence the traffic of the optical network link while still allowing full access to the traffic via the monitoring port.

  • Multimode and Singlemode

The network link can be either in
Multimode (850/1300nm) or Singlemode
(1310/1550nm). By default Cubro 1GE
Converter TAPs are delivered with SC
type connectors. Optional, the units
can also be equipped with FC or LC
connectors – according to your
requirements

  • Number of Monitoring Ports

By default Cubro 1GE Aggregation TAPs
come with one monitoring port per
network link (one port per traffic direction).
For parallel monitoring (e.g. monitoring
system plus portable decoder) it is also
possible to double the monitoring ports
exists.

  • Fully passive

Optical Splitters installed at the network
link inputs allow fully passive connection
to the link under test. Thus the network link
is not interrupted even if the power supply
to the TAP fails. Moreover, the splitting ratio
is selectable according to the available
optical power budget.

  • LED Indicators

LED´s on the front panel provide fast and
easy indication of power-, link- and activity
status.

  • Various Cabinet versions available

With the 19” Mount Kit you can build the
portable TAP to flexible Cabinets.
One TAP in 19”, 1U; 2 different TAPs
(SM and MM) to 19” and much more

  • Easy to use and operate

Easy operation and installation. No PC or
software necessary. No bugs,
no software- updates
means more time for your business.

  • Different Power Versions

12VDC, 48VDC and also 230VAC versions available.
